HTTPS File Uploading Service

Web data ingest

Concept

In March 2014, JMA launched an HTTPS file uploading service for data collection as a safer alternative to FTP-based file transfer.

Users upload files using HTTPS protocol with command line tools such as cURL or various upload programs.

JMA now uses this function to collect GTS bulletins from WIS Centers in the area of GISC Offenbach, which is a GISC backup partner. Uploaded files are stored in GISC Tokyo's 24-hour cache so that WIS Centers can download files as backup if their principal GISC experiences an outage.
