Visualization techniques

Evaluation of visualization techniques

Concept

There are a number of existing methods to visualize meteorological data (e.g., Severe Weather Forecasting Demonstration Project, and JMA SATAID Software). Participation in this theme with operational sense is expected to help improvement of technical capabilities in both IT and forecast divisions of meteorological Services in the region.

Lead Centre (currently JMA) provides instructions to visualize WIS data using several software packages. Participants try and compare their usability.
The visualization software includes applications running on Windows and web-based systems.

Applications

- KML data catalog(can be viewed with browser or Google Earth):
(note)
We decided we ended the KML data catalog service.
Sorry for the inconvenience and we thank you for your understanding in this matter.

- Cloud database
The cloud database contains various KML data (numeric data and string data).
You can visualize the data graphically on web browser.
(note)
The Cloud Database of GISC Tokyo had been running on Google's Fusion Table. Recently, Google has changed its API to new “Fusion Tables API v1.0” and we can not continue our service. So we decided that we ended the cloud database service.
Sorry for the inconvenience and we thank you for your understanding in this matter.
